Education to UX

I'm Katja, a UX professional with a background in education. As the sole UX writer at Swing Education, I've worked closely with all members of the product, design, and engineering team. I manage our content strategy, key UX workflows, and email notification strategy.

Principles that drive my work:

• Ship frequently, leverage the MVP approach to validate ideas

• Create with accessibility in mind from the beginning

My unique journey to the UX field has equipped me with a special set of skills and perspective. I taught special education math in Baltimore City Public Schools for 8 years before transitioning into UX design.

• I learned to simplify complex math concepts into clear, understandable instructions for all students

• I learned the importance of consistency in helping students make connections

• I developed a deep empathy for students with disabilities and passion for accessibility
